Fascinated by devotional objects, I became drawn to their homespun, kitschy aesthetic, which shaped the visual language of the series. By adapting sacred imagery to a secular sensibility, I create two-dimensional figures of the Virgin Mary and metaphorically flatten their spiritual depth. It is an attempt to demystify what is divine and give it a more familiar, companionable status.
